Die Preisvergabe beruht auf den Evaluationsergebnissen der zahlreichen im Rahmen der Akademie evaluierten Veranstaltungen. Grundlage hierfür sind über 62.000 Evaluationsbögen, die elektronisch und in Papierform im vergangenen Jahr erfasst worden sind. Mit dem Preis ehrt die Deutsche Röntgengesellschaft das Andenken des Stifters Prof. Dr. Felix Wachsmann.
